Members of the Stoughton (Mass.) football team experienced the very depths and then a high on Friday, according to the Boston Globe. Friday morning they attended a funeral for senior lineman David Wade, After dedicating the remainder of the season to Wade, the Black Knights (5-0) shut out Foxborough (Mass.) 20-0 as Marcus Middleton scored touchdowns on a 40-yard run and a 67-yard pass from Dan Eckler. Prior to the game, a moment of silence was held in his honor and the captains carried out his No. 56 jersey for the coin toss. His number also was on the helmets of every player and many fans wore shirts with his number on the front and "Once a Knight, always a Knight" on the back. Stoughton coach Greg Burke told the Globe, "It was the hardest day ever for the kids and for me and the family ... We were playing for our team, but Dave was obviously here. I'm so proud of the kids, so proud of the fans. The Wade family, you don't know how much they are hurting right now and we had to give them something to cheer about. He was a great kid, tough, smart, funny. He was a great player for us. It is almost impossible to replace him.
